MANILA, Philippines — Ortigas & Company ramps up the first phase of its P60-billion Greenhills redevelopment with the groundbreaking of a new integrated regional mall. Featuring a new retail format, it brings together popular global and local brands with Greenhills’ trademark tiangge.

The mall is the second development to be launched in the massive Greenhills upgrade, which kicked off with residential tower Connor last year. Ortigas is pouring in P6.3 billion for the first phase the project.

“This retail project is a showcase of what the public can expect from the new Greenhills. We are taking the shops and concepts we have now and bringing those to a whole new level that both customers and tenants will enjoy,” says Ortigas & Company President and CEO Jimmy Ysmael.

Modern approach to retail
The new mall will house over 150 global lifestyle brands and about 2,000 tiangge stalls. It will rise up to seven floors with a gross leasable area of 47,000 square meters and three basement levels for parking providing 1,300 slots.

“We are building on the format that we have now, and making it more attuned to the current trends of global and local retail,” Ortigas & Company Vice President and Ortigas Malls General Manager Arch. Renee Bacani shares. “The public can expect a new and enhanced overall lifestyle experience in Greenhills with this retail anchor that will feature the biggest names in global and local food and shopping.”

Bacani also states that while the company revitalizes Greenhills with the new mall, Ortigas will continue to support local entrepreneurs who need a platform to grow their business.

“We have always supported Filipino entrepreneurial talent and we will continue to be a retail incubator for these up and coming businesses,” Bacani stresses.

Food will be another anchor, as Greenhills’ new mall is set to open with more restaurants, novel food concepts, a budget-friendly food court and an upscale food hall. It will also have four prestige and two regular cinemas to complement the existing ones in Promenade.

The company is also shaping the mall to become a hub for wellness, with allotment for more open spaces, as well as clinics and gyms to serve future Greenhills residents and shoppers.

Fueling San Juan’s growth
Ortigas & Company also highlights the connectivity of the new mall to the rest of the estate, as it serves as a central link to the rest of the properties in the area: Connor, the refreshed Unimart, McKinley Arcade parking and an upcoming BPO office space.

“The new Greenhills is not only vital to our company, but to the growth of San Juan City as well. The spaces we are introducing are designed to give the public a holistic live-work-play lifestyle in a strategic location that will open them to new opportunities and experiences,” Ysmael says.

The groundbreaking of the new mall marks a significant progress in the redevelopment. It is expected to open in 2021.

New and upcoming stores
As the redevelopment takes shape, Ortigas & Company is also continuously adding to its roster of stores and restaurants in Greenhills.

New dining options include Farmacy, Wildflour Café + Bakery, Starbucks, Kimono Ken, Lugang Café, Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps, Mom & Tina’s, Mesa, Kamameshi Town, Arroz Ecija, Pepper Lunch, Pezzo and Samgyeopmasarap.

Also opening soon are Gringo, Kimpura, Coco, Manam, Ooma, Dean & Deluca, Shrimp Bucket, Botejyu, Paper Moon, Tickles, The Medical City, Owndays, Center for Advanced Dentistry, Karada, The Aivee Clinic, Powder Room and Skin Station.
